How to manage rubella infection during pregnancy?

My wife is 14 weeks pregnant and has been diagnosed to be suffering from as rubella. Presently she has no problem. She was diagnosed to be hypothyroid at 8 weeks - TSH: 8.63 (Normal: 0.25-5); T4: 15 (Normal: 12-20). She was treated and the test repeated at 10 weeks showed normal values - TSH 1.5; T4 16. What are the chances of the child being affected and what could be the effects?

Active rubella infection in early pregnancy, backed by the evidence of serocoversion, would need looking into and might need a cordocentesis to rule out fetal infection. If thyroxine is given then she should be ok from that point of view.
