• Brief Profile

    Dr Samiran Nundy was a medical undergraduate in Cambridge and Guy's Hospital London and then trained, first in Medicine at the Hammersmith Hospital, and later in Surgery at Guy's, Addenbrookes Cambridge, the Hammersmith and the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He has taught at the Universities of Cambridge, London and Harvard and returned to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in 1975 where he eventually became Professor and Head of the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery. He left AIIMS in 1996 and now heads the GI Surgical department in the Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi. He is also Dean of the Ganga Ram Institute for Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (GRIPMER). His clinical and research interests are in the management of complex diseases of the liver, bowel and pancreas as well as in the quality of Indian medical research and publications and health websites. He has been Founder Editor of 'The National Medical Journal of India' and 'Tropical Gastroenterology' and has served on a number of journal Editorial Boards including the 'British Medical Journal'. He has worked closely with Raxa since it started.
