• Brief Profile


    Professor T D Chugh completed his graduation and post graduation from Medical College, Amritsar (1951-62).

     

    He was a faculty member and chairman in Medical Colleges, Amritsar, Rohtak and Kuwait from 1958-2004.

     

    Published 261 research papers. He is the first in the world literature to describe that the adhesin of Staph.epidermidis is lipoteichoic acid and also described that the gene for bacteriocin in K.pneumoniae is on an auto-transferable plasmid.

     

    He is Fellow, National Academy of Medical Sciences (India); The Royal College of Pathologists, London; American Academy of Microbiologists, and International Medical Sciences Academy.

     

    He has been given the following awards:

    •    Gen. Amir Chand oration in 2005

    •    K L Wig Oration in 2005

    •    S C Khandpur Oration in 2009

    •    K L Wig Oration (AMCOL) in 2012

     

    He was the Senior Consultant Microbiology, Director Laboratories and Advisor, Academics and Research SRGH and BLK Super Speciality

    Hospital, Pusa Road, New Delhi from 2004-12. He is an Honorary Advisor, communicable diseases, ICMR since 2004 and is a National Emeritus Professor, National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) since 2004.
